Bookkeeping

Most books don’t look broken.

They look “fine” — until tax time. Until a loan application. Until something’s already gone wrong. A second opinion is how you find out before one of those moments finds you first.

Six reasons Idaho owners choose L.M. & Co. for their books

Jump to whichever one matters most to you:

Reason 1

Real humans, not an algorithm.

We are a service, not a subscription. Every transaction is reviewed personally — by me, not outsourced, and not run through an automated categorizer and hoped for the best.

Reason 2

Banking experience, not just bookkeeping.

Before this, I spent years in banking — watching business owners get denied funding over books that looked fine on the surface. That’s the lens every review runs through: not just “is this categorized,” but “would a lender or a buyer actually trust this.”

Reason 3

100% Idaho-based.

No call center, no ticket number, no time-zone gap. Idaho filings, Idaho banks, Idaho timelines — from someone who’s actually down the road, not a rotating team somewhere else.

Reason 4

Clear pricing, built around your budget.

You won’t find a flat number on this page — bookkeeping pricing depends on your transaction volume and how complex your books are, and a one-size number would be misleading. What you will get is a plain-English quote before anything starts, worked out together, built to fit your budget. No surprise invoices, ever.

Reason 5

Start with a free second opinion.

Before you commit to anything, send over your last 2–3 months and I’ll review it myself, free. No pitch, no obligation — just an honest read on where you actually stand.

Reason 6

Runs on QuickBooks Online.

One platform, set up once, so nothing gets lost between systems. QuickBooks Online is the industry standard — not a proprietary tool built just for us — so your books stay portable, accessible any time, and easy to hand to a CPA or a future bookkeeper if you ever need to.

What I actually look for

A second opinion catches things like:

1

Expenses categorized wrong

Quietly costing you at tax time — often for more than one year before anyone notices.

2

Numbers that don’t match your bank account

If your books and your real balance tell two different stories, one of them is wrong — and you need to know which.

3

No clear read on whether you’re making money on the job

Revenue isn’t profit. Without a clear breakdown, it’s easy to stay busy and still not know if you’re actually ahead.

How the free review works

One path, four steps. No obligation at any point along the way.

1

Send me your books

Your last 2–3 months of bank statements, or an export from whatever you use (QuickBooks, Xero, a spreadsheet — whatever you’ve got).

2

I review it myself

No outsourcing, no software doing the thinking for you. Someone with banking experience actually reads your numbers.

3

You get a plain-English rundown

What’s working, what’s not, and exactly what I found — in writing, not jargon.

4

You decide what’s next

Keep your bookkeeper, fix what I flagged yourself, or bring me on for ongoing help. No pressure either way.

The offer

Pick a time that works for you.

30 minutes, on a call — no pitch, no obligation. We’ll go through your books together and I’ll tell you exactly what I find.

If you want ongoing help after the review

Some owners just want the free second opinion and a peace of mind. Others want someone keeping an eye on it every month. Both are fine — here’s what ongoing bookkeeping with me looks like:

  • Monthly reconciliation, so your books and your bank account never quietly drift apart
  • Expense categorization double-checked, so tax time isn’t a surprise
  • A clear read on job-by-job or month-by-month profit — not just revenue
  • Direct access to me — the same person, every month, not a rotating team

Same promise as above: no flat number to post here, since it depends on your volume and complexity — just a clear quote, built around your budget, before anything starts.

Common questions

Is the second opinion really free?

Yes. No pitch, no obligation. I review your books myself and tell you exactly what I find — what you do with that is entirely up to you.

How much does bookkeeping cost?

It depends on your transaction volume and how complex your books are — on our call I’ll give you a clear, straightforward quote built around your budget. No pricing tiers to squeeze into, and no surprise invoices later.

Will you tell my current bookkeeper?

No. This is between us until you decide otherwise. Whatever I find stays private, and how (or whether) you bring it up with anyone else is your call.

What if you don’t find anything wrong?

Then you walk away with real confidence instead of a nagging feeling — and that’s worth something too. Not every review turns something up, and that’s a good outcome.

What do you need from me for the call?

Usually your last 2–3 months of bank statements or an export from whatever bookkeeping software you use. If you’re not sure what to send, just book the time and I’ll tell you exactly what’s useful.

What if I want to keep working with you afterward?

Then we talk about what ongoing bookkeeping looks like — pricing based on your volume and complexity, no surprise invoices. If you’d rather just take the findings and go, that’s completely fine too.
